Haemophilus influenza type b purified capsular polysaccharide conjugated to 24 mcg inactivated tetanus toxoid, 6.7 Lf diphtheria toxoid, 5 Lf tetanus toxoid, 46.8 mcg pertussis antigens per 0.5 mL. Supplied as ActHIB (Haemophilus b conjugate vaccine [tetanus toxoids combined]) with Tripedia (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccine absorbed [(DTaP]). Class: Vaccine
Action DTaP: Diphtheria and tetanus toxoids induce antibodies against toxins made by Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Clostridium tetani. Pertussis vaccine: Protects against Bordetella pertussis. Haemophilus B conjugate vaccine: Induces active immunity against Hib infection.
Indications Active immunization of children 15 to 18 mo who have previously been immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis with 3 doses consisting of diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and whole cell pertussis or DTaP vaccine and 3 doses or fewer of ActHIB within the first year of life for the prevention of invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b or by diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis. Do not administer to infants younger than 15 mo.

Route/Dosage
IM Administer in outer aspect of the mid-thigh or deltoid, not into the gluteal area or other areas where there may be a nerve trunk. First, second, and third dose: at age 2, 4, and 6 mo immunize with ActHIB reconstituted with DTP or saline diluent (0.4% sodium chloride). Fourth dose: at 15 to 18 mo immunize with ActHIB reconstituted with DTP or Tripedia or with saline diluent (0.4% sodium chloride). Fifth dose: at 4 to 6 yr immunize with Tripedia or DTP. Vaccinate preterm infants according to their chronological age from birth.
